Houlihan Lokey hired Rainer Hepberger as a managing director within its healthcare investment banking team. He joins from mid-market rival William Blair and will work with Paul Tomasic, who joined from RBC Capital Markets in April last year along with four other senior dealmakers to launch its European healthcare team.

Houlihan also hired former Bank of America dealmaker Andy Cairns to head up its capital markets business in the Middle East and Africa, based in Dubai.

Fabio Lisanti was named head of markets for Europe at Citigroup, taking charge of its trading business in the region. He will relocate to Paris for the role, having previously led the US bank’s markets unit in Western Europe.

BNP Paribas took on Julien Scemama as a managing director in its private placements team. He joins from Nomura, where he was a managing director within its equity advisory unit.

Professional services

Linklaters appointed Françoise Maigrot as managing partner of its Paris office from 1 January for a four-year term. The real estate partner joined Linklaters as an intern before becoming a partner in 1999. She succeeds Bertrand Andriani in the role.

Clifford Chance hired Adam Hedley as a partner from Reed Smith in London. His practice focuses on the environmental and health and safety aspects of ESG. The firm said the hire is part of its investment in building its ESG expertise.

Latham & Watkins promoted 10 lawyers to its partnership in London out of a global round of 44 new partners. The new London partners include M&A lawyers Katie Peek and Hector Sants, banking lawyer Ben Wright and litigation lawyer Nell Perks.

Alvarez & Marsal hired former Deloitte special adviser Tony Woodhams to lead its EMEA capital markets business. Woodhams has had stints at the likes of food business Cargill Group, investment banks Credit Suisse, HSBC and Morgan Stanley, and Big Four firm KPMG. He joined Deloitte in 2016 as head of capital markets analytics leading a global team advising the firm’s financial services clients.

Hedge funds 

Bridgewater Associates named Yuriy Podoshev as engineering director. Podoshev joined the hedge fund after spending almost 16 years at Goldman Sachs.

Strix Leviathan tapped Matthew McBrady to head strategy. McBrady was previously chief investment officer at BlackRock’s $1.5bn multi-strategy fund from January 2014 to September 2016.
