UK police say no further action to follow cash-for-honours investigation involving King’s charity – JURIST

The London Metropolitan Police announced Monday that they will not be taking further action into an investigation over whether an official from King Charles’s charity The Prince’s Foundation offered a Saudi citizen honours in exchange for a donation.In its statement, the Metropolitan Police said:A file was passed to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) on 31 October 2022 for early investigative advice. Offences under the Honours (Prevention of Abuses) Act 1925 and Bribery Act 2010 were considered  … With the benefit of the CPS’s early investigative advice, and after careful consideration of the information received as a result of the investigation to date, the Met has concluded that no further action will be taken in this matter.The Met said that nobody has been arrested as a result of this investigation.Another one of the King’s charities, The Prince’s Trust, had been at the centre of allegations that donations had been used to influence the monarch when he was Prince of Wales. The OSCR, the Scottish charity regulator, is still undertaking its own investigations into the use of funds by The Prince’s Trust.A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said, “We have noted the decision of the Metropolitan Police Service. All other inquiries are a matter for the Prince’s Foundation.”
